OPTIMAL PIANO

To give the grand piano a second life

Why Kalisz?

Where is the best place to renovate a grand piano? In Kalisz, of course.

Why Kalisz and grand pianos? Kalisz is the largest center of grand piano and piano renovations in Europe. In 1878, Arnold Fibiger set up his factory here, and in 1954, his descendant founded the Technical School of Grand Piano and Piano Building. Thanks to the factory, its employees and school graduates, many companies and repair shops were established in Kalisz and the surrounding areas. Many outstanding technicians and craftsmen, whose expertise is known and appreciated all over the world, work there. For years, their main clients have been German klavierbauers and technicians, whose skills and demands allowed to systematically improve the quality of Kalisz renovations. The high level of local services is demonstrated by cooperation with renowned piano producers such as Bechstein, Fazioli, Schimmel, Steinberg, Ibach and Feurich.

About me

My name is Rafał Szczepanik and I have been working in this industry since 1995. I started out as a technologist, I was designing modifications of Viennese mechanisms, then I became the production manager and later on the vice president of one of the companies situated in Kalisz. Based on my experience, the knowledge of the best technicians and craftsmen from Kalisz, as well as the understanding of the European and global market, I decided to open my own repair company. I pay the most attention to the renovation of the acoustic parts and the mechanisms, because the main task of the instrument is to play.

The philosophy

I decided to focus on renovating only a few pianos a month. By limiting the repairs, I can personally provide the highest quality and individual approach to each instrument and efficient cooperation with the client. I use the highest quality parts of recognized producers: Steinway & Sons, Renner, Abel or Heller. I believe that the customer's satisfaction consists not only of the quality of services, but also of timeliness, price assurance as well as fast and preferably personal contact.

Acknowledgements

I would like to take this opportunity to thank several people:
- Sławomir Kitt - a legend of Kalisz renovations - the man who taught me most of what I know about grand pianos,
- Mathias Stöckle - a leading technician at Renner company, who showed me the secret ways of designing mechanisms and converting Bösendorfer with the Viennese mechanism.
- Berthold Hess, Marcus Hübner and Ed Glatzel - clients whose high demands allowed me to understand the importance of quality,
I invite you to cooperation.
